2020-2021 KC Youth Council Application
Opens Dec 29 2020 12:00 AM (EST)
Deadline Feb 15 2021 11:59 PM (EST)
Description

The Kennedy Center invites applications for the 2020-2021 Kennedy Center Youth Council. Founded in the Spring of 2016, the Kennedy Center Youth Council is comprised of 25 DC metropolitan area teens involved and engaged in the arts, aged 14-18, who are presently enrolled in high school. This year, we are opening the program to students who are enrolled in college as well. The Youth Council was formed to empower and activate youth engagement at the Kennedy Center and to create a youth-developed strategy to strengthen youth participation and representation in existing Kennedy Center programs and to develop new programs for youth. As a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, the Youth Council explores exploring the role of citizen artistry, defined as using the arts for positive social impact, in their own lives. The Council has regular bi-weekly meetings from October through June, as well as opportunities to attend performances and events, develop special performances and projects, and receive mentorship opportunities from Kennedy Center staff.

Due to COVID-19, we are planning our program virtually until further notice. Meetings are typically two Thursdays from 6:00-7:30PM of every month.

Contact Liz Mungaray (Lrmungaray@kennedy-center.org) with any questions or if you have any technical issues.
