The Kennedy Center Dance Lab aims to empower young dancers to be impactful change-makers and leaders by providing them with critical career tools, impactful experiences, and high-caliber training to support their growth as the next generation of dance industry professionals. Dancers will take consistent ballet and modern technique classes with additional master classes in other dance genres with renowned instructors, explore their creativity and the art of choreography, address dance health, wellness, and injury prevention, discuss critical issues in the dance industry, and dive into the idea of "Citizen Artistry" through opportunities to collaborate and create.
KCDL is open to 36 high school dancers entering grades 9-12 in Fall of 2024 who desire to pursue dance careers, show great leadership potential, are interested in developing their creative voice, and have a hunger to make a positive impact on the world. Program dates are August 4-17, 2024.
To apply:
- Complete the online application, which includes 2 short essays, video submissions, a letter of recommendation, and a $25 application fee.
- Attend the live in-person audition with Hope Boykin on Saturday, March 9 2024 or request a virtual audition.
- All applications must be submitted IN FULL prior to your audition date.
Tuition & Fees: The Kennedy Center Dance Lab is committed to working with students and families to make high-level dance education affordable for all, regardless of their financial situation. Scholarships, fee waivers, and other support are available to any student accepted to our program.
