The 2023 LEAD Lehman Scholarships offer financial assistance to attend the 2023 Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability Conference to those who are underrepresented in the fields of cultural access and arts administration currently working in or pursuing a degree in those fields. Scholarship amounts will vary from $200.00 to $900.00 and will be awarded to twenty-five individuals.
Eligibility Requirements:
Eligible applicants must:
1. Identify in one or more of the following categories:
An individual from a racial or ethnic group that is underrepresented in the cultural arts or arts administration.
An individual with a disability
An individual who identifies as being from an economically or educationally disadvantaged background
An individual who identifies as being a member of a gender/sexual minority population
2. Currently work in the field of cultural arts or be enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student in arts, arts administration/management or museum studies program.
Application Procedure:
In addition to meeting the above eligibility criteria, the scholarship candidate must include a brief statement (300 words or less or a 1 to 3-minute video) describing the anticipated impact participating in the 2023 LEAD Conference will have on the applicant’s career. Applicants are also asked to submit an estimated travel budget.
Recipient Obligations:
Successful applicants must attend either the full conference August 29-31 or a capacity building workshop August 27-28 in Boston, MA August 29-31. Scholarship funds may be used to cover expenses related to attending the conference, including travel, housing, meals, and registration fees. Recipients are also required to submit a written or video reflection on their experience at the conference to the Center.
